How to Qualify for Assistance

When times are toughest, individuals who don’t qualify for many government programs are often hit the hardest. The families we seek to serve face a short-term crisis in their lives due to reduced working hours, illness, divorce, death of a spouse/mate, domestic abuse, or significant unexpected increase in expenses.

To receive monthly assistance from Hands of Grace clients should be demonstrating a commitment to maintain their independence by working full or part time or actively seeking work after an emergency or transitional situation (such as loss of job). If a client is on SSI or other government programs and are in an emergency or transitional situation they may qualify for a one time emergency visit.

  • Everyone seeking services are taken in by appointment only after a referral from another area social service organization or church.

  • Food assistance will be provided to all who are in need to alleviate hunger.

  • Clients may be eligible for one visit or for a certain number of monthly visits. At each visit you will be helped by one of our volunteers as you go through our agency.

  • All information taken at Hands of Grace is confidential and all of our volunteers that you will come into contact with have had confidentiality training.

By helping families meet their most basic needs our prayer is to open their hearts to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

                              “A Cause for Paws”

Hi, our names are Amanda and Becca.  We are 3rd year Cadettes in Girl Scouts and are working on our Silver Award.  The Silver Award is an award given to Girl Scouts for making a difference in the community.  We thought about what our communities needs were and what is important to us--animals.  We decided that Hands of Grace could use a pet corner.  Many families find they have to surrender their pets because they are unable to feed them.  These families love their pets and we do too.  After meeting with Pastor Mongeau we decided the need was great.
